The Program

With to 2000 years of history and a world-famous gastronomy, Lyon is full of surprises and representes perfectly French art of living. From the Old-Lyon on the Saône river banks, to the Halles Paul Bocuse on the Rhône river banks, passing through the Peninsula, this itinerary is perfect to show you the best of the lyonnaise gastronomy. It also invites you to discover the historic centre, on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1998.
Explore the city in a different manner with this historical and gourmet thematic itinerary. During the different stages, at long last, you will understand the reason for the international reputation of Lyons gastronomy while visiting its most emblematic districts.

You meet with your passionate guide at Place Saint-Jean. You will be able to appreciate the authentic Renaissance charms of the oldest neighbourhood of Lyon. Your guide will take you through the famous covered passage ways of Lyon : the “traboules”. The first break, for “breakfast”, will treat you to a praline speciality, the famous pink sweet comprising an almond coated with sugar.

You will then cross over the river on the legendary Passerelle du Palais, which offers an exceptional view over the city. Cross the Saint-Antoine famer’s market for some delicious surprises. The itinerary continues on the Peninsula the bourgeoisie settled from the 17th century. While making your way along Quai Saint-Antoine, you will be able to savour the gentle way of life in Lyons. Slightly further on, Rue de Mercière reveals its traditional Lyons “bouchons”. Our dedicated guide will recount the history of these famous “Mères lyonnaises” which have shaped the city’s gourmet reputation since the 19th century.

We will also stop at one of the stores of the famous Voisin chocolate maker to taste the famous “Coussins de Lyon”.

A little later, public transport will lead us to Halles Paul Bocuse in the modern Part-Dieu neighbourhood to the east. This centre of Lyons gastronomy brings together the leading products of the region. Cold meats, cheese, quenelles, chocolate, wines, and more, the selection of products to be tasted vary according to the season. But, every visit ensures gourmet pleasure!
