The program

Built on a hill overlooking the plain of Ain and the Rhone, just a few kilometers north-east of Lyons, Pérouges is a typical medieval village that enjoys an extremely picturesque setting. It is a genuine film set that has been used in many films, such as the “Three Musketeers”.  With its two fortified walls and its fortified doors, the village will delight you by its authenticity.

Go back in time with this picturesque tour which will allow you to discover the famous medieval city of Pérouges in all its wonders and flavors!

Accompanied by your driver-guide you will take the road to Dombes, to the north-east of Lyons. Along this landscape itinerary you will enjoy the magnificent views over the plain of the Dombes Lakes and admire the authentic farmhouses of Bresse and their horse and poultry farms.

The visit will lead you around the authentic medieval town. Thus, you will discover the history of this village and admire its magnificent 15th and 16th century houses.

On the charming Place des Tilleuls, the famous Hostellerie du Vieux Pérouges awaits you for a gourmet break within its 13th century walls. You will be able to savor the authentic Pérouges “galette” served with a glass of cider. The inimitable recipe for this “galette” prepared with sugar has become a recognized culinary specialty. In a typical setting, which has preserved all the charms of the olden days, this delicious snack ensures you a moment out of time.

You will then be able to continue your visit at your own leisure. Be charmed by the town’s authenticity. On the wall walk, take advantage of the exceptional view over the Ain Valley that stretches as far as the Alps.  In the picturesque medieval shops, discover the know-how of contemporary craftsmen.
